Philippine Ambassador to Washington is Dead
MANILA, Philippines (AP) _ Pablo Suarez, a career diplomat who had served as Philippine ambassador to the United States since July, is dead at age 65, the government announced today.
A statement by the Department of Foreign Affairs said Suarez died in Washington on Monday of massive internal hemorraghing but gave no further details. Suarez had been hospitalized since Saturday.
Suarez joined the diplomatic service in 1958 and served in the United States, China and Malaysia. He was serving as undersecretary of foreign affairs before his appointment as ambassador to Washington.
He was survived by his wife, Consuelo, and three children.
