SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ David Sivulich banked in a 30-foot 3-point shot at the buzzer to give St. Mary’s a 61-60 non-conference win over San Jose State Tuesday night.

Sivulich led all scorers with 20 points. He made the game-winner for St. Mary’s (2-0) after San Jose State’s Terence Wilborn scored on a follow shot with seven seconds left to give the Spartans (0-1) a 60-58 lead.

Josh Unruh had 14 points and A.J. Rollins had 13 for St. Mary’s. Rollins’ tip-in with 1:41 to play pulled the Gaels into a 58-58 tie.

Sam Allen led San Jose State with 15 points and had two blocked shots in the final minute just before Wilborn scored his go-ahead basket. Tito Addison added 10 points for the Spartans.

Sivulich had 15 points and made four of five 3-point attempts in the first half, which ended with St. Mary’s ahead 32-27.

San Jose State held a 15-8 lead after seven minutes before St. Mary’s switched from man-to-man to zone defense and held the Spartans to one basket over the next 7:30. The Gaels’ 16-3 run during that span gave them a 24-18 lead with 5:50 left in the first half.

Both teams handled the ball poorly. St. Mary’s finished with 24 turnovers, San Jose State 22.
