WHAT'S AT STAKE

Kansas State needs a win to forge a first-place tie with TCU, which is idle this week. The Wildcats are coming off a 41-20 loss to the Horned Frogs in their previous game and have matchups remaining with Kansas and Baylor. West Virginia wants to avoid its third straight loss on a frigid night in Morgantown and is 1-3 against ranked opponents this season.

KEY MATCHUP

West Virginia's running back rotation vs. Kansas State's defense. The Mountaineers struggled to establish the run in a 33-16 loss at Texas two weeks ago and a similar effort against the Wildcats could spell doom. Wendell Smallwood, Rushel Shell and Dreamius Smith combine to rush for 162 yards per game. Kansas State is allowing an average of 127 yards on the ground but gave up 334 to TCU.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kansas State: WR Tyler Lockett broke his father Kevin's school record for career receiving yards two weeks ago. The younger Lockett needs 16 catches and three TDs to break two other career records held by his dad.

West Virginia: QB Clint Trickett and WR Kevin White. Trickett has been held under 300 passing yards in three straight games after going over 300 in eight straight games before that. White had a school-record 16 catches for 132 yards at Texas after being held under 100 yards the two previous games.
