2 killed in wrong-way DUI crash
CAPE CORAL, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say two men are dead and a third is facing charges after an alcohol-related, wrong-way crash.
The News-Press reports that the crash happened Monday night in Cape Coral.
Police say 35-year-old William Frederick Bohl V was driving his pickup truck east in a westbound lane when he crashed into the side of an oncoming minivan that was swerving out of the way. The van’s driver, 46-year-old Kevin Hamm, died at the scene, and the passenger, 20-year-old Christian Hamm, died later at a Fort Myers hospital.
Bohl’s blood alcohol level was measured at 0.181%. Florida law considers a driver impaired at 0.08%.
Bohl was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and DUI with property damage. He also was being held on a probation violation. Jail records didn’t list an attorney.
