1 suspect hurt in shooting with South Carolina police
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — State police are investigating after police officers and two robbery suspects were involved in a shootout at a South Carolina convenience store.
North Charleston Deputy Police Chief David Cheatle told local media that one of the suspects was hurt in the gunfire exchange and both of them were arrested.
Cheatle says officers were called to a gas station robbery around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday. He says the injured suspect was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be serious.
Cheatle says no one else was hurt.
The State Law Enforcement Division is handling the investigation. SLED spokesman Thom Berry said one of the officers was a white man and the other was an Asian man. Berry did not have information on the suspects.
