Some 10,000 students protest in Berlin
BERLIN (AP) _ Thousands of university students demonstrated in cities across Germany on Wednesday to protest cuts in education spending.
In Berlin, 10,000 students took to the streets. One of their signs read: ``Dear Santa Claus, fix it so I can study.″
There were similar protests in more than 25 other cities, including Bonn, Regensburg, Freiburg and Heidelberg.
The protests are the latest of many over the last few weeks.
Students complain of overcrowded classrooms, a shortage of textbooks and slashed student subsidies _ all brought on by years of state and federal budget cuts.
They planned a rally Thursday in Bonn, Germany’s provisional capital, where Parliament is debating next year’s budget.
