Contemporary Christian band MercyMe to bring spring tour to Big Sandy Superstore Arena

MercyMe is bringing its spring tour to the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington.

HUNTINGTON - Contemporary Christian veterans MercyMe is continuing its “Imagine Nation Tour” and will find the group traversing more than 30 cities nationwide alongside fellow Grammy nominee Crowder and multiple GMA Dove Award nominee Micah Tyler.

Los Angeles, Portland, Orlando, Baltimore and more are on lineup for the three-month long stretch taking place between March 7 and May 11 with a stop at the SMG-managed Big Sandy Superstore Arena in downtown Huntington on Friday, March 15.

Tickets for the Huntington show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at the arena box office, on line at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

MercyMe last played the Tri-State in 2011 and 2010 when they performed at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland.

Formed up in 1994 out of Edmond, Oklahoma, the five-man band (lead vocalist Bart Millard, percussionist Robby Shaffer, bassist Nathan Cochran and guitarists Michael Scheuchzer and Barry Graul) has first gained mainstream recognition with the crossover single, “I Can Only Imagine” which elevated their debut album, “Almost There,” to triple platinum certification.

Since then, the group has released eight additional studio albums (six of which have been certified gold) and a greatest hits album.
