Picnic to Mark Opening of White House Horseshoe Pit
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Several governors and nine top players from the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association are among those invited by President Bush to a picnic Saturday to mark the official opening of the White House’s horseshoe pit.
The president, an avid player, had a pit set up near the swimming pool on the west side of the Executive Mansion.
Bush invited Govs. Kay Orr of Nebraska, James Blanchard of Michigan, Carroll Campbell of South Carolina, Michael Castle of Delaware; Guy Hunt of Alabama; Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Madeleine Kunin of Vermont, John McKernan of Maine; William Donald Schaefer of Maryland and Steve Cowper of Alaska.
The two-hour picnic will be on the south grounds. The menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, sliced tomatoes, pickles, pound cake, fresh fruit and ice cream.
