PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — A man has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and armed robbery in a shooting death in New Jersey hours after the victim’s high school graduation more than five years ago.
NorthJersey.com reports that Casey Cole entered the plea Monday in the June 2013 death of 18-year-old Isaac Rinas of Wayne.
Prosecutors say Rinas was shot during an arranged gun sale in Paterson hours after he graduated from Wayne Valley High.
Cole was slated for trial this month on felony murder and weapons possession charges. He said in court that he went along with the robbery plan only on the promise that no one would get hurt.
Two other defendants reached plea agreements three years ago.
