Child, 2, Injured in Fall from Fapartment Window

October 4, 2018

FITCHBURG -- A 2-year-old child fell out of a four-story apartment building Wednesday afternoon, according to Fire Chief Kevin Roy and police broadcasts.

Police and fire responded to the Willow Lofts apartments at 11 Willow St. at around 4:25 p.m., which is near the Fire Department.

At the scene, police put up crime tape to block the entry to the apartment and both directions of Willow Street. Two ambulances were on scene for several minutes.

A woman Roy identified as a relative of the child screamed as she ran toward first responders stationed outside the apartment.

The child was rushed to UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital in Leominster and will likely be flown to another hospital for treatment, Roy said.

“By the time I walked over there, they had him in the ambulance,” he said.

Rob Hurley, a witness, said he saw a black child who was “limp and unresponsive” being carried out of the front door.
