Truck overturns, spills over 500 gallons of heating oil
GOFFSTOWN, N.H. (AP) — Officials say a truck overturned on a New Hampshire road and spilled over 500 gallons of heating oil.
WMUR-TV reports the truck rolled over on a Goffstown road around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and officials say the crash may have been caused by icy road conditions. No injuries were reported in the crash, but the road affected remained closed throughout the day.
Goffstown Fire Chief Richard O’Brien says the crash site is close to the town reservoir and officials want to ensure the oil doesn’t contaminate drinking water.
Crews from the state Department of Environmental Services responded to handle the cleanup, which is expected to last several days. Officials say they are working quickly in hopes to avoid rain, which would make cleanup more difficult.
