Wedding gown chain files for bankruptcy protection
David’s Bridal filed for bankruptcy protection, with the goal of remaining in business with a smaller number of wedding gown stores.
David’s Bridal closed its Norwalk store earlier this year, with the chain having locations in Danbury and Orange.
The Conshohocken, Pa.-based company stated it will continue operating as normal and that existing bridal appointments will not be impacted by the bankruptcy filing. The company has some 300 stores in North America.
David’s Bridal was acquired in 2012 for nearly $1.1 billion by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, with the company taking on debt as part of the transaction. The company lists a Guilford office of Wilmington Trust as its largest unsecured creditor, owing $270 million for a debt instrument due in 2020.
