Mike Tyson’s Family Escapes Fire
POTOMAC, Md. (AP) _ A fire heavily damaged a home owned by Mike Tyson on Friday night, but no one was injured, a spokesman for the former heavyweight champion said.
Tyson’s wife, two of their children and her parents escaped unscathed. The boxer, training in Las Vegas, issued a statement through spokesman Adam Grant in New York.
``My wife and my family were safely evacuated from our home,″ Tyson said in the statement. ``We are very blessed and thankful that there were no injuries associated with this incident. I look forward to reuniting with them soon.″
The fire caused an estimated $1.5 million damage, said Pete Piringer, a Montgomery County Fire Department spokesman.
In his statement, Tyson thanked the fire department and law enforcement officials for their quick response and the help they provided to his family.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
