Toddler dies in tractor accident
A Corunna toddler died Thursday when an unattended, non-running tractor rolled backward over him, the DeKalb County sheriff’s department said today.
Eighteen-month-old Oliver Stackhouse died at the scene, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
It said county police were sent to the 1900 block of County Road 13 on a report of a child struck by a tractor.
Oliver was assisting his mother, Ann Stackhouse, with chores, police said. They said she attempted to stop the tractor from rolling further and her leg became pinned underneath.
The tractor rolled about 10 feet before coming to rest, police said. They said DeKalb EMS, Corunna firefighters and a Parkview Samaritan flight crew attempted resuscitation efforts.
The incident is under investigation by the sheriff’s department and the county coroner’s office.
