NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) _ Kashif Hameed scored 20 points and Tariq Kirksay added 18 to lead Iona to a 90-72 victory over St. Peter's on Wednesday night in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

The Gaels (4-2) pulled away to their third straight win with a 10-2 run that gave them a 77-63 lead with 4:33 to play.

Iona finished with a big advantage at the free throw line, going 27-of-38, while St. Peter's (1-2) went just 12-for-18. The Peacocks were plagued by foul trouble throughout the game and had three players foul out.

Antoine Orr led St. Peter's with 17 points.

Donell Mitchell added 14 points for Iona, while John McDonald and Jason Young had 10 each.
