Mavericks Down Wizards 97-72

DALLAS (AP) _ Antawn Jamison scored 21 points and Michael Finley had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the Dallas Mavericks’ 97-72 victory over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

Steve Nash added 14 points and Eduardo Najera had 11 points and 11 rebounds to help Dallas improve to 10-0 at home.

Larry Hughes had 12 points and Brenden Haywood grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds for Wizards, who’ve lost five of six.

The Mavericks were without leading scorer Dirk Nowitzki, sidelined by a sprained right ankle. Nowitzki is doubtful for Dallas’ game Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dallas also played without forward Danny Fortson, serving the third and final game of a suspension.

Wizards forward Etan Thomas missed the game due to the flu.

The Mavericks expanded an 11-point halftime lead to 67-51 with 3:07 left in the third quarter when Najera capped a 13-5 spurt by converting a layup off a behind-the-back pass from Nash.

Dallas carried a 75-58 advantage into the final quarter and went on to lead by 25 points.

Dallas shot only 39.6 percent from the field in the first half, including 1-for-7 shooting from 3-point range. Washington hit only 36.6 percent of its first-half attempts.

The Mavericks were 2-for-13 from 3-point range for the game, while the Wizards were 4-for-25.

Notes: Najera banked in a 3-pointer as the shot clock wound down in third quarter, his first 3-pointer of the season and second of his career. ... Washington was a 100-90 home winner over Dallas in the first meeting of the season between the teams on Nov. 5.
