Framingham State student charged with assault

February 19, 2014

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Framingham State University student has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he assaulted his girlfriend and held her against her will in his dorm room.

Malik Davis of Springfield was released on personal recognizance and ordered to have no contact with the woman at his arraignment Tuesday on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery.

Prosecutors say the 18-year-old Davis’ girlfriend was visiting him last Friday when they got into an argument, he grabbed her wrists and choked her, and refused to let her leave his room.

She reported the allegations to police on Sunday.

Prosecutors sought $500 bail.

The MetroWest Daily News (http://bit.ly/1gUWmzG ) reports that Davis’ lawyer called the kidnapping charge a “stretch” and said the woman has a history of assaulting Davis and damaging his property.
