McInerney scores twice, Impact beat Dynamo 3-0
MONTREAL (AP) — Jack McInerney scored two goals and Marco Di Vaio added another as the Montreal Impact beat the Houston Dynamo 3-0 in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
McInerney opened the scoring in the 41st minute, and made it 2-0 in the 75th with his seventh goal of the season, Di Vaio scored in the 79th.
Coming off a 0-0 draw in Vancouver on Wednesday, the Impact earned points in consecutive games for the first time since April.
The Dynamo have lost five games in a row, and haven’t scored in a league game since May 17. Houston had Honduran midfielder Boniek Garcia back from the World Cup, but is still missing U.S. international Brad Davis.
In the day’s other game, the Columbus Crew and FC Dallas paused before their 0-0 draw to support the recovery of a firefighter who was struck by lightning in the parking lot of Crew Stadium on Saturday.
The teams were scheduled to play Saturday night, but their game was rescheduled after Stu Tudor was hit by lightning. The 54-year-old lieutenant in the Columbus Fire Department is in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the Ohio State Medical Center.
