Inspection finds problems at Warren County, NY airport

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) — A federal inspection has found problems at New York’s Warren County Airport — including rescue and firefighting equipment that airport workers don’t know how to use.

According to The Post-Star , recent personnel departures have left the airport without anyone trained to run the equipment.

For the time being, the county has a mutual aid plan with local volunteer fire departments. However, officials acknowledge that an emergency response would be much faster if the on-site equipment could be used.

The Federal Aviation Administration also has found that the airfield’s markings are in poor condition.

Acting Public Works Superintendent Kevin Hajos says he is going over the inspection report and preparing a response. He says some of the issues already have been corrected.
