Cattle Dog Trial at the Madison County Fairgrounds this weekend
MADISON - The Diamond W. Classic Cattle Dog Trial sanctioned by the Southwest Cattle Dog Association is set for this weekend at the Madison County Fairgrounds.
Handlers and their dogs from Nebraska as well as outside of the state will come together to compete in the event where their dogs will attempt to herd cattle as fast as possible.
One of the organizers Brandi Weinrich says they have five different classes of difficulty starting with the Open class which is the best of the best.
“We have a ranch class that is for an open handler or an intermediate handler running a dog that isn’t ready for the open class yet. We have a nursery class which is for young dogs. Then we have an intermediate class which is for a handler who is not to the point of competing in the open yet. Lastly we have a novice class which is for people just getting started.”
Weinrich invites you to watch the cattle dog trials at the Madison County fairgrounds Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with the open class kicking each day off at 8 A.M.
