Va. Tech’s Michael Vick Hurt Again
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) _ Michael Vick’s return as Virginia Tech’s starting quarterback was sidetracked for two series midway through the first quarter Saturday night when he was hurt on a running play.
Running left on an option play, Vick attempted a late pitch to tailback Andre Kendrick. The ball was poorly pitched and skidded out of bounds as Vick was pulled down by Virginia linebacker Donny Green.
Vick, who missed the second half of the No. 6 Hokies’ game against Pittsburgh on Oct. 28 with a sprained left ankle, played only the second quarter in a 41-21 loss to Miami a week later and sat out the Hokies’ 44-21 victory at Central Florida two weeks ago, appeared to be favoring his right ankle.
Vick was replaced by Dave Meyer and helped into a room on the Hokies’ side of the field. He returned to the sideline several minutes later, and returned at quarterback two series later with Virginia leading 14-7.
