1 dead after car crashes into house, bursts into flames
PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. (AP) — Authorities in western Illinois say one person is dead after a car crashed into a home and erupted into flames.
The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened around 10:30 Saturday night in Prophetstown when the driver failed to stop at an intersection. The car hit a guardrail and became airborne before coming to rest inside the home.
The (Sterling) Daily Gazette reports that (http://bit.ly/1BmhIwy ) the driver was trapped inside the car and died after it burst into flames.
Nobody inside the house was injured.
The victim was not immediately identified.
Prophetstown is about 40 miles northeast of Moline.
