Deihl Retires as H.F. Ahmanson Chairman
IRWINDALE, Calif. (AP) _ Richard H. Deihl has retired as chairman of H.F. Ahmanson & Co., the parent of Home Savings of America.
The retirement of Deihl, 66, after 34 years with the company was planned, Ahmanson said Wednesday.
The board of directors elected Charles R. Rinehart, 48, as the new chairman. Rinehart succeeded Deihl in 1993 as chief executive officer of Ahmanson and chairman and CEO of Home Savings.
Home Savings of America is the nation’s largest savings institution and one of the largest residential lenders.
