Jeremy Bloom Wins World Cup Event

INAWASHIRO, Japan (AP) _ Jeremy Bloom won a World Cup moguls event Saturday, edging Dale Begg-Smith of Australia.

Bloom earned 25.32 points for his third World Cup victory of the season. Begg-Smith received 24.43 points.

Japan’s Osamu Ueno, the only skier from the host nation to advance to the final 16, finished third with 23.87.

Bloom leads the World Cup standings with 440 points, followed by fellow Americans Travis Mayer (339) and Nathan Roberts (332).

American Jillian Vogtli won the women’s event with 23.47 points. Austrian Margarita Marbler was second with 23.02, and American Hannah Kearney finished third with 22.91.

Canada’s Jennifer Heil, who leads the World Cup moguls standings with 506 points, finished sixth.
