Amy Fisher Testifies She Was Raped In Prison
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ Amy Fisher told a federal judge that since she has been imprisoned for shooting her boyfriend’s wife she has been raped by guards and had consensual sex with other officers.
Fisher looked pale and thin as she testified for more than four hours before U.S. District Judge Richard Arcara on Tuesday. The hearing was part of Fisher’s effort to be transferred from Albion Correctional Facility, where she has spent most of the past four years.
Fisher, 22, became infamous as a teen-ager when she shot the wife of her then-boyfriend, Joey Buttafuoco. She is serving a five- to 15-year term for assault at Albion, 30 miles east of Buffalo.
She testified that one guard raped her in a prison stairwell in October 1994, while another sodomized and raped her in the prison in April.
Fisher and her mother are suing 22 state prison officials and guards for $20 million each. They also have asked that Fisher be transferred to a federal prison in Danbury, Conn., to get away from what they claim is a pattern of sexual abuse.
New York prison officials say the lawsuit is a ploy by Fisher to be jailed closer to her Long Island home.
