Racist threat made at Mayville Middle School

DAILY CITIZEN STAFF dc-news@wiscnews.comMay 18, 2019

MAYVILLE — Mayville Middle School parents received a letter Thursday informing them of a racist threat written in a girls bathroom at the school.

Principal Robert Clark wrote that the statement was not specific to any individual, and students’ safety was not compromised. Immediate action was taken to document the threat and an investigation began, which included police notification.

“Mayville Middle School will not allow the actions of one student to define our school culture,” Clark wrote. “We have a responsibility to continue our efforts to create a culture of inclusion where racism and hatred is not tolerated.”

The letter thanked the staff and students who brought the incident to the administration’s attention

Anyone with pertinent details or questions can contact Clark at 920-387-7970.

Mayville Middle School is home to approximately 480 students in grades 3-8. The bathroom where the threat was written is generally used by the older students.
