Make alien acquaintance with ‘Close Encounters’ at the SCERA

The SCERA will screen "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" on Wednesday as part of its summer outdoor movie series.

Explore intelligent life beyond the stars whilst under the stars at the SCERA Center for the Arts ’ next outdoor summer movie, “ Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

The 1977 sci-fi film follows a group’s attempt to contact alien intelligence following one man’s encounter with an unidentified flying object and subsequent pursuit of the truth about UFOs.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” directed by Steven Spielberg with music by John Williams, is rated PG and runs at two hours and 18 minutes long.

The screening is scheduled to start Wednesday at dusk at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, 699 S. State St., Orem. Admission costs $3-$4, seating is general admission and guests are invited to bring blankets to sit on or rent chairs for $1 each.
