“Hidden Figures” author to speak at St. Philip’s College

Margot Lee Shetterly, the author of “Hidden Figures,” the book that became the blockbuster film about three African-American women working at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration who calculated John Glenn’s launch into orbit, will give a free lecture Thursday at St. Philip’s College.

The talk will begin at 11 a.m. in the Watson Fine Arts Center at the community college, 1801 Martin Luther King Drive. Parking is also free and the lecture is open to the public on a first-arrived, first-seated basis.

Reservations for large groups can be made at alamo.edu/spc/pls-rsvp. Audience questions for Shetterly will be accepted online up to 48 hours before the lecture at alamo.edu/spc/pls-qa.

Shetterly’s talk is the latest in college President Adena Williams Loston’s lecture series.
