Firefighter dies after four-vehicle crash

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island firefighter who was injured in a four-vehicle crash has died.

Police say 39-year-old Ryan Ferris died at a hospital Wednesday after his car became pinned under a box truck on Broncos Highway in Burrillville.

Ferris had been trapped in his vehicle, and he was freed by rescue personnel and flown to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

He was a member of the Harrisville Fire Department and the father of two children.

Others involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
