No. 13 Ohio St. 54, James Madison 45
HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) _ Sophomore Katie Smith scored 21 of her 23 points in the second half Saturday as No. 13 Ohio State rallied from an eight-point deficit at the break to defeat James Madison 54-45.
James Madison led by as much as 13 with 3:56 left in the first half. But Stacie Howard of Ohio State (3-1) sparked a 10-2 run with 15:38 left in the second period to tie it at 28. Smith then hit a field goal with 10:16 left to give the Buckeyes a 32-30 edge and the lead for keeps.
The Dukes shot just 21.6 percent in the second half. The Buckeyes shot 43 percent after the break.
The Buckeyes got nine points from Adrienne Johnson and six each from Lavona Turner, Alysiah Bond and Marlene Stollings. Smith had a game-high 11 rebounds.
James Madison was led by Sarah Schreib with 12 points. Christina Lee and Kara Ratliff each added 10.
