Suspect charged with killing three in Fairbanks shooting
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) _ A man has been charged with shooting three people to death Tuesday, after he called police from a fried chicken restaurant to report the crime.
Jimmy Ray Price, 53, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and other charges are pending, said Mike Pulice, Fairbanks’ public safety director.
Police arrived at an apartment believed to be Price’s after receiving a report of shots being fired, Pulice said. Two victims were already dead and the third was fatally wounded.
Police are waiting to notify the victims’ families before releasing their names, Pulice said.
Price called seconds after police received the first report, Pulice said. He was arrested, questioned and charged Tuesday, and is set to be arraigned Wednesday.
Investigators would not say whether he had confessed to the shootings, nor would they discuss a motive.
Price used the apartment where the shootings occurred as his address when he registered to vote in February 1996, but police would not say whether he lived there.
