No. 7 Texas Tech 80, Southern Methodist 61
DALLAS (AP) _ Tabitha Truesdale scored 18 points to lead the No. 7 Texas Tech to an 80-61 win over Southern Methodist in a Southwest Conference game Saturday night.
All five starters scored in double figures for the Lady Raiders, who broke open a close game with an 18-4 run over the last five minutes.
Noel Johnson contributed 17 points for Texas Tech (18-2, 4-0 conference), including four crucial 3-pointers in the second half. Connie Robinson scored 14 points and Nikki Heath added 13.
Jennifer McLaughlin and Kim Brungardt scored 16 points each to lead SMU (10-6, 1-3). Kim Brandl added 14.
The Lady Raiders won for the 15th consecutive time over the Lady Mustangs. The loss was the Lady Mustangs’ third in a row and its first at home after eight wins.
SMU held as much as a 12-point lead in the first half and did not surrender the lead until Heath sank a 3-pointer with 9:27 to play in the game.
A regular-season record crowd of 3,990 attended the game. The old record was 2,295, set last year when Texas Tech visited Moody Coliseum.
