Trial delayed for Mississippi youth charged with murder

March 14, 2019

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi teen who faces life in prison if convicted of fatally shooting a man during a robbery will wait another 11 months before trial.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports a new trial date for Quindarris Burress was set for Feb. 24, 2020.

Burress was 13 when 70-year-old Henry Adams Jr. of Baldwyn was killed. He’ll be 15 when the trial begins. He was charged as an adult with capital murder, but the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that people under 18 cannot face a death sentence.

Baldwyn police think Adams was killed during a robbery on Oct. 22, 2017 by Burress and two other teens. Adams sold cars from his house and was known to keep large amounts of cash.
