Owners call Montco apartments a success. But for some, safety questions linger.
Lawsuits, code violations, tenant complaints: Clashes between developers and municipalities aren’t uncommon, but the years-long dispute between Abington and the former Colonade apartments has been an especially acrimonious saga.
It started with resident complaints and code citations in 2012, escalated through debates over whether the complex needed a fire-safety upgrade during 2014 renovations, continued after a 2016 building fire, and was resolved with a settlement in July.
