Gov. Ivey sets date for House District 42 special election
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has announced the date for a special election for state House District 42.
Republican Rep. Jimmy Martin, who represented the district for 17 years, died on May 31. He was 80.
The primary election to fill the seat is set for Aug. 20, with a runoff election scheduled for Nov. 5 and a general election on Jan. 21, 2020.
The district covers Chilton and Autauga counties.
