ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) _ First came Flutie Flakes. Now there’s the Flutie CD.
Doug Flutie, quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, has been recording an album with his rock band, The Flutie Gang. It will feature nine original songs and will be released by Frequency Records in the fall.
Part of the proceeds will benefit the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. His popular ``Flutie Flakes″ cereal also benefited the foundation.
Flutie, whose son suffers from autism, said being the drummer in a rock band is a lot like being a quarterback.
``I think in each you have the ability to control tempo,″ Flutie said this week. ``You have a big say in whether a play or a piece succeeds.″
Flutie isn’t giving up his day job _ he reports to Buffalo Bills training camp today. But he loves his side interest.
``It was a great release for me,″ Flutie said. ``Football is my profession. This is my hobby.″
