SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ A turf-toe injury ended St. Louis Rams cornerback Aeneas Williams' streak of 177 consecutive starts.

The All-Pro, who has been dealing with the injury since late in training camp, was inactive for the winless Rams' game at San Francisco on Sunday. Williams had to leave last week's 13-10 loss to Dallas, but he was optimistic after the game, referring to the injury as ``just a flare-up.''

He was replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Travis Fisher, the team's second-round pick this year. It was Fisher's first career start.
