Borrelli, Cobb, Biasiucci lead state races in Mohave County
Mohave County voters overwhelmingly elected Sen. Sonny Borrelli to keep his seat in the state senate.
Regina Cobb will also keep her seat in the state House of Representatives, where Leo Biasiucci will join her in representing the county. Biasiucci ousted incumbent Paul Mosley in the primary election earlier this year. Borrelli said he was pleased to see the results Tuesday night as he lead 74 percent to Democrat J’Aime Morgaine’s 25 percent.
“I’m very honored once again to be able to serve our community,” Borrelli said.
Borrelli complimented Morgaine for sticking to their differences in policy and not making personal attacks while campaigning. He said he would head to Phoenix Wednesday to vote in the legislature’s leadership, and he’s ready to get back to work.
Cobb said she was glad to see the lead she had Tuesday night, but it’s always stressful until the results are completely in. As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Cobb held 44 percent of the vote, Biasiucci held 36 percent and Democrat Mary McCord Robinson held 17 percent of the vote.
Cobb said with big issues to figure out in the state, including water issues, Mohave County residents need experienced leaders to represent them. She said she was also glad to see Biasiucci holding a lead.
“We both worked hard as if we were in last place on his one and hopefully it shows in the end,” Cobb said.
Biasiucci said he was honored and privileged that the people believe in him and support him.
“Being born and raised here it’s always been a dream for me to be able to do something like this,” Biasiucci said.
He said he looks forward to get to work in Phoenix and keep District 5 conservative and listen to the people of Mohave County.
“I think Gina, Sonny and I are going to be a phenomenal team,” Biasiucci said.
