18-Year-Old Texas A&M Freshman Killed
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ A Texas A&M University freshman was shot to death by her ex-boyfriend, who then killed himself, authorities said.
Jacqueline Roquemore, 18, died Sunday shortly after arriving at College Station Medical Center, Lt. Rodney Sigler said.
Police say Christopher Thomas Young, 23, shot her after an argument in the parking lot outside her apartment and then shot himself in the head. Young was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a woman had called them to report the disturbance and was on the phone with dispatchers when shots rang out in the background. Neighbors said the caller was the victim’s sister.
``I saw a young lady run upstairs and she was on the phone,″ said a witness, Victor Allen, who lives nearby. ``She was crying and was frantic. I took the phone and talked to the dispatcher.″
Investigators said that Roquemore had recently ended a relationship with Young and he drove into town to try to contact her.
