‘Returning the Favor’

Mike Rowe ("Dirty Jobs") brings his latest show, "Returning The Favor" to Welch, W.Va., for the final episode.

WELCH, W.Va. — The season two finale of “Returning the Favor” on Facebook Watch is shining a good light on Southern West Virginia.

Just released on Tuesday, Aug. 28, the show features host Mike Rowe, who is famous for “Dirty Jobs,” and his team heading out to Welch, West Virginia, to share the story of Linda McKinney, operator of the local Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Bank.

Through Linda’s hard work, the food bank was able to feed around 15,000 people last year in McDowell County, which is in the heart of West Virginia’s struggling coal country. However, due to severe leaks, the pantry is in desperate need a of a new roof in order to keep the building in operation.

In the season finale, Mike and his team are joined by previous show honorees, the Women Roofers and Kenzie Hinson. The Women Roofers are a group of women who repair the roofs of people in their community who cannot afford to hire a professional. Kenzie Hinson is a teenage girl who, at the age of 10, started the Make a Difference Food Pantry in Mount Olive, North Carolina, to feed hungry families in her neighborhood. These Returning the Favor alumni are here to help return the favor to Linda and surprise her with a brand new roof and $30,000 worth of food. Linda also received a check for $5,000 worth of transportation to transport perishable food in an air-conditioned truck.

In the show, “Returning the Favor,” Rowe travels the country honoring “bloody do-gooders” who have made a positive impact on their community “Returning the Favor” is a weekly celebration of an outstanding human. The show is the ultimate dose of inspiration coupled with humor and surprise. In each episode, Mike Rowe will select one individual nominated by the “Returning the Favor” Facebook community, tell their story and chronicle the set-up of their surprise reward, complete with all the funny and dramatic ups and downs,

building up to an exciting reveal of the reward. Returning the Favor is produced by Hudsun Media and mikeroweWorks.
