Jobless Claims Rise by 11,000
WASHINGTON (AP) _ The number of people filing first-time claims for jobless benefits jumped by 11,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 299,000.
That’s 6,000 more than analysts expected.
But the number remained below the 300,000 mark for the tenth week in a row, a continuing sign of a tight labor market.
The four-week moving average of jobless claims was up 1,750 to 295,250.
