Fort Wayne gas prices fall 8 cents a gallon in last week
Gasoline prices in Fort Wayne have fallen 8 cents a gallon in the last week, to $2.20, GasBuddy said today.
The national average increased 3 cents a gallon, to $2.31, GasBuddy said in a statement.
It said Fort Wayne prices Sunday were 13.9 cents a gallon lower than a year ago and 7.7 cents higher than a month ago; the national average is 19.6 cents a gallon lower than a year ago and 6.8 cents higher than a month ago.
Gas prices have advanced to their highest level in nearly two months as oil prices move higher, said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, in the statement.
“Last week’s report from the Energy Information Administration showed refinery utilization plunging, meaning less gasoline is flowing out of refiners,” DeHaan said.
While gas prices are nearly guaranteed to be higher in May than today, he said, “it is looking more likely that the rise in prices this year may be more muted than we’ve seen in years past,” when prices gained 35 cents to 75 cents a gallon during the spring.
