NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) _ Mozell Brooks scored a career-high 32 points to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 84-62 victory over LSU in the first round of the NCAA women’s tournament.

The win moved Stephen F. Austin into the second round of the tournament against No. 2 Iowa at Iowa City Sunday.

It was SFA’s first win in NCAA tournament play after losing in two previous appearances. The 19th-ranked Ladyjacks are now 29-4.

LSU led 15-14 with 12:13 to play on Jeanetta Burns’ jumper from the circle, but went cold for the next ten minutes as SFA ripped off 14 consecutive points to take a 28-15 lead with 4:47 left in the half.

LSU pulled to within five points when April Delley hit a shot from underneath at the buzzer to make it 30-25 SFA at halftime.

In the second half, LSU opened with a quick bucket to pull within three, but SFA ran off 15 consecutive points, eight by Brooks, to take a 45-27 lead with 14:59 to play.

Dana Chapman led LSU, 18-11, with 17 points.
