Former liquor store damaged by fire in Milford

November 6, 2018

MILFORD — An early morning fire damaged a vacant building on Boston Post Road Tuesday.

According to the Milford Fire Department, dispatchers received a 911 call at 2:52 a.m. from a passing motorist reporting a fire in a building located at 1469 Boston Post Road. Fire officials said the vacant structure was formerly the site of the Loading Dock liquor store.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a large volume of smoke visible from the exterior. Concerned about the possibility that there were homeless people trapped inside, crews searched the interior of the building, but no one was found.

As the blaze spread to the roof, firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to help suppress the fire. The blaze was under control about 40 minutes into the incident, fire officials said.

The Milford Fire Marshal’s division is investigating the incident and a cause has not been officially released.
