Ex-Boy Scouts leader who had child porn gets prison sentence
MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) — A former Boy Scouts leader convicted of having child pornography that was found when authorities investigated child sex abuse claims against him has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Morris County prosecutors say Stephen Corcoran was found guilty in April on 10 counts of child endangerment and a single count of exhibiting or showing child porn to someone else. He was sentenced Tuesday.
The 49-year-old Parsippany man is still awaiting trial on charges he sexually abused three young scouts in the 1990s. Those charges were severed from the child porn case and jurors weren’t told about them.
As authorities investigated the sex abuse claims in 2011, a witness said Corcoran had shown him child porn. They eventually found a thumb drive at Corcoran’s home containing various images and videos.
