DANBURY Fore ‘n’ Aft rock reunion

October 4, 2018

DANBURY — The Ives Concert Park will rock ‘n’ roll this Saturday in honor of the late Fore ‘n’ Aft clubs in western Connecticut and New York.

The Fore ‘n’ Aft Benefit Reunion Concert will feature almost a dozen bands, including Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Neal Smith of the original Alice Cooper Band.

Proceeds will benefit the ALS Association, the National Adoption Foundation, Hillside Food Outreach and Ann’s Place free cancer support services.

The concert will honor the legendary history of the Fore ‘n’ Aft clubs that entertained entire generations of rebellious music lovers through the 1960s, ’70s and early ’80s.

It showcased acts like Twisted Sister, Richie Scarlet, Rat Race Choir and Zebra.

In 2004, the location frequented by many young partygoers on Route 6 in Brewster burned down in an overnight blaze several years after the building had finally been abandoned.

The festival Saturday, presented with Townsquare Media, will reunite bands and fans from the club’s past and is open to the public. Live music starts at noon and will stretch til after 10:30 p.m. at the park on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus at 43 Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury.

The celebration will feature a performance by Smith, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 as the original drummer on Alice Cooper’s albums and tours in the late 1960s and ’70s.

He also played and recorded with The Plasmatics — whose lead guitarist Richie Stotts graduated nearby North Salem High School and was a regular Fore ‘n’ Aft patron in the 1970s — Flyinger Tigers and the Hollywood Vampires.

The band lineup includes Dan’s Garage Band, Hey Baby Band, Whitewood, Future Tense, Paralax, Richie Scarlet, Doug Wahlberg Band, Limelight the Rush tribute band, Witch Hunt and Rat Race Choir.

The show will end with a surprise performance at 10 p.m.

Tickets cost between $22 and $50 per person. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.forenaft.org.
