SEATTLE (AP) _ The Seattle Mariners recalled outfielder Scott Podsednik from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday to replace Mark McLemore, who might miss the rest of the season because of an injured right elbow.

Podsednik, 26, hit .279 with nine home runs with Tacoma _ leading the team with 61 RBIs and 35 steals. He is expected to be in uniform Wednesday night when the Mariners play the Minnesota Twins at home.

He was called up in July last year and had a pinch-hit, bases-loaded triple in his first major league at-bat. It was Podsednik’s only hit in six times up.

McLemore, 37, has been unable to play since he aggravated his already sore elbow Saturday night while making a diving catch in a loss to Kansas City. Results of an MRI was expected Wednesday.
