Richard “Rich” C. Roche, 75, of Beatrice passed away at his home on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018. He was born Jan. 7, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Rufus R. and Mathilda O. (DeBauche) Roche. Rich grew up in Washington, Kansas and graduated in 1961 from Washington High School. He served in the United States Army from Nov. 10, 1964 until Oct. 21, 1966, he was stationed in Germany. After returning home Rich moved to Beatrice and went to work for the Beatrice Daily Sun. He married Trudy Lantz on Oct. 25, 1969 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Beatrice. Rich started Rich’s Floor Service in 1990 and later retired.

Rich enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, hunting, happy hour with his friends, he was a fan of The Bold and the Beautiful and most importantly he enjoyed his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Trudy of Beatrice; two sons, Jason Roche and wife Amy of Roca, Justin Roche and wife Darla of Waterloo ; seven grandchildren, Connor, Bentley, Natalie, Harper, Nicole, Cash and Ashley Roche; two sisters-in-law, Tarri Ullsperger and husband Arlyn of Beatrice, Vicki Davis and husband Randy of Denver, Colo.; one brother-in-law, Allen Lantz and wife Debbie of Beatrice.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus R. and Mathilda O. Roche; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Bessibelle Lantz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Beatrice with Father Robert Barnhill officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery of Beatrice with military rites conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 3 p.m..Tuesday until 9 p.m. Wednesday. The body will not be present at the church Thursday morning.
