March 1 deadline set for Alcorn State presidency applicants
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Trustees are setting a March 1 deadline for applications to become president of Alcorn State University, with the goal of choosing a new leader in April.
Applications should be submitted to Parker Executive Search, the firm the board is using to screen applicants
The College Board says members of a campus search advisory committee will examine applicants and suggest at least five names to a five-member trustee committee.
Trustees will chose which candidates are interviewed, with the goal of naming one preferred candidate. The board says it hopes the candidate could visit campus for a series of interviews in April.
Al Rankins Jr., Alcorn’s previous president, became higher education commissioner on July 1, overseeing the state’s eight public universities. The historically black institution has 3,800 students.
