CAMDEN _ Seven more people including a police officer and three firefighters have been charged in a widespread prescription drug scheme involving state benefits. The U.S. attorney’s office announced the indictment Friday in Camden. The defendants allegedly used a network of recruiters, doctors and state and local employees to get reimbursed for phony prescriptions and expensive and medically unnecessary compounded medications. _ DEADLY POLICE SHOOTING-TRENTON _ Authorities say a man who reportedly was threatening to harm himself was shot and killed by police who responded to a home in New Jersey’s capital city.

_ WOMAN DEAD-ESTRANGED HUSBAND CHARGED _ A man convicted of fatally stabbing his estranged wife in front of their young son has been sentenced to life in prison.

_ COUPLE KILLED-ROBBERY _ A man accused of killing a couple during a robbery in their southern New Jersey home has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter charges.

_ FATAL TURNPIKE EXTENSION CRASH _ A driver accused of causing a multivehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike Hudson County Extension that left a teacher and his 6-year-old daughter dead has been convicted on aggravated manslaughter.

_ INNOVATION GRANTS _ The state of New Jersey has awarded five communities a $100,000 grant for innovation projects.



NEW YORK _ The Jets solved their kicking question with a familiar foot. Chandler Catanzaro was signed to a one-year deal by New York on Friday, marking the kicker’s second stint with the team after it allowed Pro Bowl selection Jason Myers to leave as a free agent.
